The young director chances upon a book of poems by 95 year old Hilda Domin, the well known, captivating German poet. They quickly become friends despite the age gap of seventy years. The friendship and their mutual curiosity is the basis of this film.

Domin, a lucid woman, sensitive and full of vitality, tells of her life and work; about fleeing from Nazi Germany and returning after 22 years. More than anything she talks about the terrible yearning for her late husband Erwin, who left her alone in her large house full of books, roses and memories.
