Tribute to Participant Media - Chicago 10
102 Min, 2007, 102 Min, English, Hebrew Subtitles
During the Democratic Convention of 1968, anti-war demonstrators clashed with the Chicago Police, who violently tried to back them off. The clashes turned into riots, witnessed by 50 million television viewers, and led to a polarizing effect and political trauma across the US.
The American government decided to deal with the incident by bringing eight of the most vocal activists to trial a year later. For many, the trial was considered a circus due to the systematic violation of civil rights.
The film makes the viewer experience the drama and the tragedy of Chicago in an extraordinary way. Combining animation and archive clips, the film moves back and forth from the streets of Chicago to the courtroom, succeeding to make this story very relevant today, despite the 40 years that have passed.
