Tribute to Nicolas Philibert - La Ville Louvre
France, 1990, 85 min, French, English and Hebrew subtitles

What does the Louvre museum in Paris look like without the public filling it? What happens when it is empty of people? While it was closed for intensive repairs, Philibert was given permission to go around and document it; he chose to film it "as a ballet".
This is not a film about art or sociology, but an observation in Philibert''s own unique way, in this closed, hushed environment – of workers, museum employees reorganizing the place, the security guards protecting the valuable works of art, and the rest of the heroes of the moment. Kilometers of underground passages and forbidden places are exposed to the public view, and everything weaved into a story combining the commonplace with the splendid.
