Spotlight on South Korea - Grandmother''s Flower
South Korea, 2007, 90 Min, Korean, English & Hebrew Subtitles

It is with rarely found courage that the family of director, Mun Jeong-hyun, exposes itself. The family all live in a small village in South Korea, where they experienced first hand the war that broke out in 1950 between the two Koreas and separated right from left. As in Israel, in those years, families were torn apart due to ideology, but there, they paid the heavy price of bloodshed.
This is the story of his grandmother, a mother of nine, who kept a tight grip on her family, and her drunken husband; of the betrayal of friends that ended in murder, and of the efforts to repress the traumas. However, when the director arrives and sets up his camera, he finds an intense willingness on the part of his family to divulge deeply hidden family secrets, and to share their pain with him.
