Kim Longinotto, the acclaimed documentarian, ("Divorce Iranian style"), known for her global documentaries from Iran, Japan and Mali, is back in Britain focusing this time on children who are out of control.
Ben and Alex have so much rage inside their nine year old bodies; they want to punish the entire world for the traumas they experienced at the hands of their violent parents. Along with their classmates at a specialized boarding school in Oxford, they are looked after by a devoted team of care-givers who never punish the children.
Two adults are assigned to each child and communication is kept open even under the most testing situations; sometimes being kicked, hit or spat upon, they treat the children with patience and tolerance. When there are really violent outbursts they hug them firmly, releasing the child only when they have calmed down.
Kim Longinotto, (director/photographer), captures intimate details of these tormented youngsters and their daily lives as they strive to become just regular kids.
