Useless
Hong Kong/China, 2007, 84 Min, Mandarin and English, Hebrew Subtitles

The rising Chinese director Jia Zhang-Ke''s, shows us in his unique style, the changing face of the textile industry of his native China. With emphasis on esthetic cinematography, the film''s pace is deliberate and focused, as the director moves down never ending rows of an enormous, textile factory, showing its routine and interior.
We move on to the Chinese designer, Ma Ke, a fashion goddess, worshiped by the Parisians, who creates clothes made from simple, crude materials and then, burying them in the ground, captures their historic and energetic potential, according to her philosophy.
Straight from this spectacular fashion show the director moves out to a remote province, to the poor, old style artisans. He captures their wretchedness and the capitalistic tsunami that is sweeping them away in its path.
