The Bodybuilder and I
Canada, 2007, 92 Min, English, Hebrew Subtitles
Bryan Friedman, a 26 year old director, is coming to terms with the man he has hardly seen since he was a baby, his father, a successful lawyer and currently a competitive bodybuilder desperate to win his age group (50-60) competition.
Bryan''s parents divorced when he was still an infant and now he documents his father''s quest to win the big competition while dealing with resentment that has accumulated over the years.
The director accompanies his father to exhausting bodybuilding training sessions, goes with him to buy a latex outfit; he meets the tough opponents and learns how they expose their lean, muscle-bound, bronzed bodies, but ultimately, through the well choreographed routines and tanning sessions emerges the picture of a man trying to deal with the mixed emotions that engulf him every time he meets his father.
