Wild Blue Yonder
USA, 2007, 70 Min, English, Hebrew Subtitles
Celia (27) is the daughter of the filmmaker David Maysles, who with his brother Albert Maysles, influenced documentary making and were the co-founders of the movement that became known as direct cinema. Celia was only 7 when David died; she chooses the cinema and her debut as a director to get to know more about him.
What could be simpler than to turn to Uncle Albert, her father''s partner, to reminisce and rummage through archives; she is especially curious about her father''s last and unfinished project, Blue Yonder. But she is surprised and bitterly disappointed – Albert, who initially supports her plan, refuses to co-operate. Celia is determined, despite the deeply emotional setback, to continue her quest to get to know her father.
