Satellite Queens
Netherlands/USA, 2007, 59 Min, English and Arabic, English & Hebrew Subtitles

Four charming, intelligent women host a very successful talk show, broadcasting to millions of viewers all over the Arab world on the leading satellite station MBC. They bravely and sensitively discuss a wide range of topics, including some usually considered taboo in their societies. The women are careful not to break the strong ties with their tens of millions of viewers. They influence thoughts and behaviors on a daily basis – and thus, gradually, changing traditional values and beliefs.
They come to the show from four capital cities – Cairo, Beirut, Dubai and Riyadh; each one with their own personality and perspective. They discuss divorce, (60% of couples in Saudi Arabia), parenting, sex education and even masturbation and homosexuality - so far without radical consequences.
