The Aunt from Sakhnin
Israel, 2007, 38 min, Hebrew, English subtitles

When my father was two years old, my grandmother – his mother – abandoned him, left the house, became a Muslim, re-married and established a big family in the town of Sakhnin. All my life I knew her as "the aunt from Sakhnin ". No one told me the truth; my Jewish family took care to hide it from me until a few years ago when I lost my brother and sister in the space of two months. My brother was killed in an accident in the desert and my sister in a terror attack at Megiddo Junction. I was badly shaken by this tragedy and decided to go and seek out my identity; entangled between my two torn families – and between two allegiances.
