EVERY LITTLE THING (LA MOINDRE DES CHOSES)
France, 1996, 105 Min., Video, French, English Subtitles

In 1996 spent Nicola Pilibert, a summer in one of the unique psychiatric institutes in the heart of beautiful rural France. The result was a meeting of the locals, inmates and therapists -presented simplistically without adding unnecessary commentary or explanations - on the background of the inmates encounter with a new play by Gomverovitch which they are scheduled to perform at the end of the summer. Philibert began following the patients several weeks before the show. He filmed the rehearsals during which they behave as real actors capable of  earning a complex text and interpret it on stage, sing and dance, along side the inmates daily routine, their walks through the park, the conversations and daily chores which they execute as equal partners in the running of the psychiatric institute. The film shows an exceptional type of psychiatric center where everyone shares the responsibility but is also free to do as they wish, its atmosphere is calm and relaxed and the patients are treated with love and respect.
