LOST CHILDREN
Germany, 2005, 97 Min., Video, English, Hebrew Subtitles

For twenty years now, a cruel civil war is waged on the Sudanse-Ugandan boarder. Rebels from the "Lords Resistance Army" abduct children who are 8 years and older turning them into soldiers and forcing them to murder innocent people. Ali Samadi Ahadi and Oliver Stoltz film, follows those children who are wounded physically and emotionally, are undernourished and suffer from nightmares as a result of the cruel murders they committed. The most crucial problem, however, is their famiies  refusal to take them back fearing the stigma of their deeds and the rebels revenge. This is how 8 to 14 year old children find themselves in a kind of existential limbo. At the centre of  he film are three children: 14 year old Jennifer who was the mistress of the rebels leader; Opio, who is only 8 years old and has already committed his first brutal murder; and Kilama, who was forced to murder a woman in front of her children and has been having nightmares of her ever since. It is an outcry and testimonial manifest on one of the worst crimes against children ever committed in the history of mankind.
