MY GRANDMOTHER’S HOUSE
Spain, 2005, 80 Min., Video, Spanish, English & Herbrew Subtitles

A minor and intimate creation, blend of stylized and very
meticulous photography, captivating characters and some
animation. The film centers around the relationship between a mischievous and impulsive 6 year old Marina and her 72 year old conservative Grandmother, Marita, at whose house she spends the summer. The girl rebels against all of her conservative grandmothers strict rules Despite that, their love is evident throughout the film. Maritas house of 53 years since her marriage to her now deceased husband, is about to be demolished in favor of a new apartment building that is to go up instead. Marita who finds it difficult to be separated from her past and the peeling, mouse ridden house, has no alternative
but to move in with her daughter and son in law - Marinas
parents. This is a poetic and delicate film, about old age, tradition versus modernization, and the love between grandmother and granddaughter.
